Introducing Ed Doskey:

New Orleans-born and Metairie-reared Ed Doskey will be the new proprietor of Professor’s Cycle products by the end of the summer.  While he has spent the last twenty years in exile in places like Florida and Massachusetts, Ed has never given up hope of returning home.  While here for a Jazz Fest visit in April, the opportunity to do just that, fell right in his lap.

When the headlight on his ’79 FLH burned out, he knew just where to go for a replacement – Professor’s. To make a long story short, he pulled into the parking lot, saw the for sale sign on the door, and ended up buying the headlight and the shop.

Ed has wanted to operate a shop like Professor’s for a long time. He has ridden and maintained his own bikes for 33 years, longer than he’s done anything else (except eat and sleep).  His love of motorcycles, especially big American V-Twins, has outlasted two careers.  Before going to “lawyer school”, as Ed’s puts, he served the local community as a Jefferson Parish sheriff’s deputy and a New Orleans police officer.  He enjoyed doing that, and he enjoyed lawyering, but he’s putting it aside to pursue his true passion.

When Ed saw that Professor’s was for sale, he had to have it. He really wanted to be the hands on proprietor of a motorcycle shop, and he felt very strongly that the Professor’s legacy must be preserved.  After all, Professor’s has been the go-to place for parts and service for 25 years, and Ed couldn’t imagine his home town without it.  As far as Ed is concerned, Professor’s is and will remain a Louisiana landmark.

Ed will continue to operate Professor’s in the same spirit and with the same level of customer service that has been its hallmark for the past quarter century.
